Who I Am
I’m Josh Wood — a TEDx speaker, educator, and strength coach with over 15 years of experience across combat sports, strength sports, and outdoor leadership.
I spent much of my earlier career competing in powerlifting and combat sports while also working as a wilderness guide. These experiences shaped how I think about strength. Strength is not just something you build in the gym, but something that should be useful in real life.
Today, my work focuses on helping people develop practical strength, resilience, and capability that actually serves them in their sport, their work, and their daily life.
TEDx: Six Habits to Eat Like an Adult
In my TEDx talk, “Six Habits to Eat Like an Adult”, I make the case that we’ve normalised poor relationships with food, and that our kids are paying attention.
We know what we should be doing, but most of us aren’t doing it. The talk breaks this down into six simple habits that help shift from emotional and reactive eating toward more deliberate choices. It’s not about being perfect with food. It’s about taking responsibility for the example we set.

I speak and facilitate workshops for a range of audiences — from corporate teams and schools to outdoor organisations and combat sports communities.
My talks and workshops focus on building real-world strength, improving performance under pressure, and developing the physical and mental qualities that help people perform when it matters most.
I’m comfortable working with both small groups and larger audiences, and I can tailor sessions to suit professional development, team building, or performance-focused environments.
