Strong for Life Bush Skills workshops are designed to give men and teenage boys the skills needed to safely and confidently spend time in the bush.

These 6-8hr workshops are a great opportunity for fathers and sons, room mates, and the bros to get outside and learn the foundational skills that help you get the most out of your outdoor experiences.

Primary Skills Taught:

Knife - Safety, selection, maintenance, and skills

Hatchet - Safety, selection, maintenance, and skills

Tarp shelter building - ropes, knots, and design.

Fire making - Fire anatomy, fuel foraging, starting methods, and the One Match Fire.

First Aid - Cuts, blunt trauma, burns, hypothermia, and shock

Meet Your Facilitator

Josh Wood is a certified strength coach, TEDx speaker, and former wilderness guide with a deep passion for functional movement and self-reliance. With over 15 years of experience in health, fitness, and outdoor leadership, Josh blends his background in Health Science and Strength & Conditioning with years spent backpacking and guiding multi-day hikes in Tasmania’s rugged backcountry. He’s known for his practical, no-nonsense teaching style and his ability to make complex skills accessible—whether in the gym or deep in the bush.
